Resident Reviews

“What am I doing here? It’s a long story and took over eight years to write!

I’m a Green Hills girl and I’ve lived here all my life. One brisk fall day, I looked out the window to see my 82-year-old husband struggling to mulch the leaves covering our yard. I surprised us both when I marched out and yelled, ‘put the mower away, we’re moving!!’ He stowed it away then said, ‘where are we going?’ We both couldn’t believe we had made that decision. Our daughter and all her family live away but as lifelong residents, we wanted to stay here in Nashville… but where?!

We made a visit to the Saint Paul, which was about 4 miles from our home, and our needs were met! We had not thought about a senior living community before, but as several friends had moved to the Saint Paul, we decided to investigate. Upon hearing and seeing the amazing community at the Saint Paul, we joined our old friends and made new ones.

I enjoyed the new life of no dinner to prepare. Bob enjoyed the meals and also the chance to be around other men. Cleaning service every other week is a promise. The laundry room is convenient. The Thursday night entertainment brought us together with others — there are so many blessings that make me thankful we chose the Saint Paul!

Now a widow, it is a safe and comfortable place to call home.”

“Moving to the Saint Paul Senior Living Community is one of the best decisions I ever made. We are frequently reminded that this is not a retirement home, but a senior LIVING community. There are many opportunities here that keep us active — regularly scheduled exercise classes led by a licensed trainer, weekly entertainment by professional musicians, bible study classes, a weekly worship service led by ministers from several local churches, and a monthly discussion group led by a history professor.

The staff members are efficient and friendly. Maintenance persons are available night and day. The meals in the dining room are healthy and delicious. The servers in the dining room are courteous young people. An added bonus is the developing of new friendships among the Saint Paul residents who have come from various backgrounds.”

“I should have moved into the Saint Paul Retirement Community four or five years sooner than I did. After my wife died, I stayed in our home, by myself for seven years. Something
always needed fixing on the house and repair bills kept adding up. At the St. Paul, there is none of that. Maintenance folks take care of those things.

Before moving to the St. Paul, I found myself eating out by myself or bringing “take out food” home and eating alone. But here, there is always someone to eat with and the food is excellent. We always have a choice between two entrees and if you don’t want one of those, there are always substitutes that can be ordered.

I am still driving and have a fairly active life outside of St. Paul. However, when the
time comes that I can’t drive, we have a driver and a nice new Lincoln to take us to
doctor appointments and other necessary trips. We have an Activities Director and there are all kinds of things to do. Bingo every Monday, free movies every Tuesday evening, live entertainment on Thursday evenings, exercise classes three days a week, an excellent Library and all kinds of card games including Bridge Tournaments,

I like the fact that there is always someone to visit with and if I want privacy, I can always go to my apartment to be alone. The St. Paul is where I need to be and I am sorry I didn’t make the move sooner.”

“This is my 15th year as a resident at the Saint Paul Retirement Community. My stay here has been very pleasant, happy, and satisfying. My “stock” answer, when asked about my living here, is ‘if you can’t be at home, this is a good place to be.’ Happily, I will enjoy the rest of my life here. I am 102 years old, fairly active, and most appreciative of Mr. Rochford and his facilities. Thanks to all who make this a great place to live!”
